Nutrition and emergency food support

Angel’s Centre focuses on nutrition and emergency food support because it is key to the health of the children. Keenly aware of the poverty factors constraining families to be food secure, Angel’s Centre provides food packages to vulnerable families. The relief package area also an opportunity to reduce malnutrition cases as well as provide psycho-social support to families to support them through the unpredicted crises such as the current COVID-19 pandemic. Psycho-social support is done through counseling and experience sharing.  These program also involves training families in proper nutrition practices such as cooking demonstrations, feeding of children.

They are also supported with vegetable seeds and trainings to set up vegetable gardens within their compounds to supplement the nutritional needs of their children.

Economic initiatives for caregivers and family

Angel’s Centre conducts this program to improve livelihoods and quality of life for caregivers and families of children with disabilities. Caregivers are equipped with knowledge and skills in entrepreneurship, agriculture through poultry and vegetable gardening as well as access to capital to set up income generating projects. We do weekly and monthly trainings in vocational skills, entrepreneurship and agriculture, organizing caregivers in village savings and loans associations (VLSAs) for savings mobilization and provision of startup capital. Moreover the groups provides space for psycho social support and self-care

“Empowering young persons with disabilities with knowledge and skills for employment”

Inclusive WASH for families and menstrual hygiene management for girl with disabilities.

Angel’s Centre supports vulnerable households to access and use clean and safe water. We are in locations in where piped water is a challenge. Limited access to water negatively impacts the lives of these children because they need a lot of attention for hygiene management. This is even truer for adolescent girls with disabilities during their menstruation period.

Angel’s Centre promotes usage of simple household water systems, hygiene management and inclusive sanitation facilities among homes as well as trainings. Angel Centres also provides trainings and materials to caregivers to enable them support better their girls with intellectual disabilities in menstrual hygiene management with dignity and safety.
