Feeding a child at school is a simple thing yet has far more reaching positive effects on the health of a child. Angel’s Centre for Children with Special Needs, Wakiso district, Uganda is running an inclusive centre of early learning and vocational skills education for children and young persons with intellectual disabilities. Many of the learners come from vulnerable families that can hardly afford their school fees later their meals. Proper nutrition is key to learning and development of a child more so those with intellectual disabilities. Angel’s Centre spends ten thousand shillings (Ugx 10,000) or three dollars (USD 3) on each child’s meals per day. Currently we are reaching 54 children at the centre, 70 children that we support in individualized education plans in the community and 21 young persons. We are therefore inviting you to be part of this campaign to Feed a Child.
